Incorporation

West African Christian Ministries was incorporated in the state of Indiana as a 501c3 nonprofit organization since February 2005, but the ministry in Burkina Faso has been supported by Westlawn Gospel Chapel, Chicago, since the year 2000.

I, Judith St.Clair Hull, met Moussa Coulibaly, while we were working on our doctorates in theological education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. Moussa Coulibaly is from the country of Burkina Faso in West Africa. He and his wife came from Muslim backgrounds, but accepted Christ as teenagers. When Moussa finished his degree in 2000 he went back to his home in Burkina to begin a ministry to the Muslim people in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso, the second largest city.

My husband, who had been impressed with Moussa’s commitment to Christ, and I supported the ministry. Westlawn Gospel Chapel, was one of the churches he attended while a student and they also supported him. Several other individuals and churches also supported him.

In 2004, my colleague, JoAnne Scaife, and I were sent to Burkina Faso by our employer. JoAnne was unable to stay an additional week when I visited the ministry in Bobo, but I was impressed with what was happening and saw the great need. Later in the year Moussa returned to the U.S. to report on the ministry. (He also sends a monthly prayer letter.)

Since incorporating, great things have happened. One 6-classroom school has been built, and property for another school has been purchased. Dave Lucas, one of our board members has been there three times and has found the experience to be life-changing.

The Ebenezer Girls Skills Center is a new project. While JoAnne and I were in Burkina Faso, we spent a week in the village of Leo with Corneille Kadio, a national translator for Wycliffe Bible Translators. He shared with us that when his wife was a young teen, there was a girls’ skills center. It was here that she learned how to take care of herself and learned about the Lord Jesus. Corneille and his wife have written up a very detailed plan to reestablish such a center with themselves as the directors. Dr. Moussa Coulibaly will be providing oversight.
